Our research is focused on omics data:
- Biological discovery from omics data. We use omics data to understand and, ultimately model, biological systems. Our new methods allow measuring biological systems in greater depth, with more details, and/or from new angles. We collaborate with domain biologists to generate and use omics data for their biological studies.
- Algorithm development for omics data. We develop new algorithms and web services to better analyze mass spectrometry and sequencing data. We aim to enable new types of analyses in genomics, proteomics and metabolomics using new algorithms in combination with new data acquisition approaches. Large-scale data processing is done using high-performance computing and cloud computing.
- Generation of omics data. We make (community) proteomics and metabolomics measurements using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS). We perform (community) genomics and (community) transcriptomics analyses using next-generation sequencing. We use shared mass spec and sequencing facilities to keep our lab agile.
